After a very long lull, former cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri are rotating strikes again. Not on-field but off-field. The two are taking turns to leave the commentary box to mentor the Indian cricket team.
In March, Gavaskar came to the rescue of Indian cricketers when he was appointed BCCI’s interim head and IPL7 in-charge by the Supreme Court. He filled the shoes of the scandal-tainted N Srinivasan, who was asked to step down. In July, the batting legend was relieved of the duty. When Gavaskar got back to the commentary box, Ravi Shastri was asked to come out and guide the Men in Blue. After India’s recent Test debacle in England, Shastri was made director of the team for the 5 ODIs.
Both have been successful in discharging their duties — the results are already visible with India having taken the lead in ODIs. One thing seems clear. If SUNNY and RAVI (also means sun) are at the helm, SUN will shine on India’s SONS.
